Hey Beauty Lovers! In this new series Gimmick or Winner, I will be testing products that are very unusual. I will be determining if they are just a gimmick or are actual a winner. I hope you enjoy this series and have fun reading these posts.
Up first is…The Giraffe. The Giraffe is a razor extension handle that can be used with a variety of disposable and reusable razors. It looks like a very interesting device and also makes me laugh. I can’t wait to see if this is a gimmick or a winner. Keep reading to find out.
What it claims to do?
No more bending, stretching or wobbling when shaving in showers thanks to Giraffe Razor Extension
Never again risk slipping, falling or bending awkwardly in the shower when shaving with theGiraffe Razor Extension. Shaving just got easier — especially for expectant moms, women with arthritis, back pain or just with a small bath space — with the Giraffe Razor Extension Handle that will extend any razor an additional 15-20 inches of length!
The Giraffe Razor Extension has been featured on the Today show with Kathie Lee and Hoda during the “Bobbie’s Buzz” segment, when style editor Bobbie Thomas was pregnant — and she loved the Giraffe for saving her when shaving!
The patented razor extension handle keeps women’s feet safely on the floor:
- Pivoting head rotates to different angles for hard-to-reach areas
- Features two universal razor attachments that securely locks razors into place
- Works with almost every reusable and disposable razor
- No-slip grip with rubberized finish and quick connect and release buttons
Final Verdict: Gimmick or Winner?
First, I must say this device is so easy to use. You simply snap on the appropriate attachment for your razor size. It extends with a simple press of a button. You can also press the top bottom and the handle pivots. Anyone can set up this device because it really is so easy. Many different types of disposable/reusable razors can be used with The Giraffe. I decided to use the Gillette Venus and Olay Razor. It fit very well in the larger attachment.
The razor fit well inside The Giraffe and was very secure. It didn’t pop out or become lose the whole time I used it. The Giraffe took a few minutes to get use to because you can’t press as hard as you can with your hands. If you try to press hard, the razor slips around on your legs. However, The Giraffe really does work. I didn’t have to bend in order to shave. I could just stand straight or put my leg on the shower wall and shave away. I didn’t have to use my back at all.
The razor removed my hair, but you can’t get as close a shave as you can with just your hands. I really loved The Giraffe for the back of my thighs because it was so easy to shave the back of my legs. The razor does like to slip around the legs a lot with this device because you can’t grip it tight. However, I didn’t get any cuts on my legs.
Overall, this is a fun device to use. Do I think it is life changing? No! However, it really would be a great device for those with back problems. It would also be great for pregnant women who can’t bend as easily. I will probably only use this device when my back hurts from working.
So is this a Gimmick or a Winner? I would say it is somewhere in between. I can definitely see where this would be useful for some people. It also really does work. However, it takes some time getting use to and the razor slips easily. It isn’t a total gimmick or a winner. It is a ginner (Haha). It is definitely a fun device to own though (and totally makes a great gag gift). What do you think of The Giraffe? Would you try it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
