thrift shop

BACKGROUND:

I am obsessed with fashion and more importantly fashion deals. If you are like me you, you want to buy tons of fashion pieces. However, you don’t always have the money to pay full price for items. That is where thrift shopping comes into play. I love thrift shopping. I find so many awesome pieces for so cheap. I hate paying full price for items and I love finding vintage clothing. The thrift store is the perfect place to go. In this post, I will give you some thrift shopping tips (aka the treasure guide). I will also show the items I picked up from two different thrift stores. I hope you enjoy this post and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts. Let’s get to thrifting!

thrift shopping tips:

  • Shop at multiple thrift stores to find the best deals
  • Have a game plan and set a limit to how much you want to spend
  • Keep certain fashion pieces in mind when shopping. This way you will find what you are looking for
  • Look for discounts and/or ask employees what are the store discounts (even thrift stores offer more discounts)
  • See if your local thrift store has a Facebook page (they will often put coupons on here)
  • Go thrifting with friends
  • Try on everything before you buy it
  • Go to the store multiple times a month (new stock is constantly being put out)
  • Ask employees what time they put items out in the store
  • Go thrifting early in the morning to get the best selection
  • Sign up for store emails (more coupons)
  • Watch for holes and stains that won’t come out
  • Ask for discounts if items look really worn
  • Try on items even if you don’t the first look (I find so many awesome pieces that I thought were ugly at first. However, they look amazing on the body)
  • Make sure to have a lot of time budgeted so you don’t feel rushed
  • Be patient
  • Look through all the racks
  • Use your ability to feel for nice materials
  • Read tags
  • Use your phone to search for brand names and see if you are getting a great deal
  • Check your local shops (they are usually cheaper than nationwide chains)
  • Shop for Fall/Winter items in Spring/Summer and vice versa (there will be the biggest selection of the opposite season because people are getting rid of these items and no one is buying them yet)
